Açores

The Azores Region, in Portugal, is a charming area located in the Azores archipelago, in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. It stretches across nine islands, being a small and diverse region. It includes the islands of São Miguel, Terceira, Pico, Faial, São Jorge, Santa Maria, Graciosa, Flores, and Corvo.

Climate and Soil The Azores have a temperate maritime climate, with mild and rainy winters and cool and humid summers. The volcanic soil and climate favor the Verdelho grape, which is used in both white and fortified wines. Other grape varieties include Arinto, Terrantez, and the internationally known Chardonnay.

Wine Production Wine production in the Azores is small but of high quality. Additionally, the Azores are known for their fresh and aromatic white wines, often with flavors of tropical fruits and minerals, as well as the growing production of fortified wines.

The Azores are a treasure for lovers of gastronomy, wines, and natural beauty!
